About Us

Artist Talk web (46).jpg

Kia ora, I am a professional artist of 20 years experience from a ceramic sculpture and pottery background. The craft of Kaitiakitanga guides my work and actions.

I am passionate about waterways and the creatures that that live in them. My strength is communication of complex ideas through the language of art and conversation.

I feel a strong responsibility to restore a balance to the environment and that there is nothing more important in life than kaitiakitanga.

My international adventures include working in potteries in France, England, Czech Republic and Thailand and invitations to Sculpture Symposiums in Changchun, China where I made two large-scale public sculptures, one in ceramic and the other in bronze.

Day-To-Day Life In the Pottery

These days you will find me splitting my week between the pottery, my role leading Mokomoko - a freshwater ecology programme for rangatahi in Masterton; and supporting Janine to home educate/unschool our children Bella and Molly. After many years in a business of her own, Janine has recently joined me in the pottery and we’re working together to grow the business and take it in new directions.

Life is busy and we couldn’t possibly juggle it all without the support of friends and whānau, particularly ‘Toro’ Mick and ‘Manma’ Peta - grandparents to Bella and Molly - who share their home with us and offer their unconditional support for our somewhat unorthodox way of life!

I continue to enjoy making outdoor and indoor sculpture to enhance people's lives and surroundings, with an ultimate goal to make large public sculpture that creates connection between people and their environment.

Our gallery and workshop are in a big, old historic shed behind our family home, a colonial villa in the heart of Masterton's historical precinct, Victoria Street.

The pottery and surrounding Wairarapa region is the inspiration for my creative process, come and visit sometime!
